My interests include the highly serious and critically important artistic contributions of actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Sophia Bush, both of whom I regard with the appropriate level of admiration (and occasional dramatic rewatching of their projects like it’s a full-time job I’m definitely not getting paid for).

I also engage in several deeply niche and emotionally charged hobbies, such as collecting compact discs in a world that has mostly moved on without me, curating Precious Moments figurines that stare at me with eternal innocence and mild judgment, thrift shopping with the strategic precision of a treasure-hunting raccoon, scrapbooking as if future historians will absolutely need a glitter glue documentation of my life, and wandering through antique stores pretending I will one day furnish an entire Victorian manor I do not currently own.

On the more “I swear I’m productive” side of things, I am passionate about photography, videography, and cinematography, which is a fancy way of saying I will absolutely spend 45 minutes adjusting lighting just to take a picture of something I could have described in a sentence. I have a strong appreciation for visual storytelling, cinematic composition, and creative expression in general.. even if half my camera roll is just accidental masterpieces of my thumb.

I have also, for approximately three consecutive summers, made bold and ambitious declarations that I will “totally get my life together this time,” plans which have so far remained in the conceptual and motivational stage, like a startup that only exists in pitch meetings and never actually launches.

Philosophically speaking, I do not consider equality and equity to be the same thing. Equality is giving everyone the same shoes; equity is realizing some people needed different shoes in the first place, or possibly feet, or at least not expecting one-size-fits-all to solve structural problems. I tend to advocate for equity, because fairness that ignores differing circumstances and barriers is basically just symmetry with extra steps.

Disagreement itself does not particularly bother me. In fact, I can tolerate a good debate. What I find much harder to sit with are discussions that drift into questioning the basic dignity, humanity, or right to exist of other people. You scum!
